Part 1 Due to users watching videos without seeing ads when they download the video is a part of it. Bandwidth is most of it. I am planning to allow for video downloads (+no ads) for paid users in the future. While my current server has unlimited BW - this new server is more expensive overall because of that, and there is still a limit at some point on any server so I'm not going to disregard that. If tons of people are allowed to download, that would not just hit BW hard (we are talking 60TB/month already, yes terabytes), but slow down the site for everyone. You can't download from Pornhub - which brings up another point - if someone uploads something illegal, then it can get downloaded and redistributed before it gets removed. Even though I approve all uploads now, something might slip through. Rule34 is a bad example, but they get about 100 million views a month, NM gets 1 million. Their giant traffic numbers means much more revenue.

Part 2 Yet thRule34 is largely images, not large videos like this one.This is a tube site like Pornhub, not whatever Rule34 is. Finally, this video will be deleted. This user has most of the largest uploads that went through on the site, somehow circumventing the upload limit of 500MB. I've already deleted videos that were twice that size, and I don't know how they made it through because these are hard server limits.

This one will stay public btw.

I think it's more an advertiser issue. Only thing that would influence something like that is likely to be due to advertisers.

Wish this site would have download option already, rule34 does, maybe its a money issue.
