Figure the entire chronology up to around episode 40 was no more than 5 years time, with Rex's first encounter being around 19 or so, and Rashala almost 30 when introduced. So she's probably got roughly eight years on him, and he's in his early 20 now.
Your cute puppy analogy is perfect. On one hand she feels kind of bad because she knows if it weren't for his blessing/curse he'd just be a regular guy, and probably still shy around girls. On the other hand, she likes the control over him it gives her, and doubts their relationship could even work otherwise (at least until he gets older and wises up a bit).
Her past also explains why she's not judgemental about his constant extra-marital boning, because she was just as bad herself when she was that age (though for different reasons). Though she is secretly planning on having him "cured" at some point in the distant future, once she's good and done having kids herself... which may be a while, though. Bunny ears.
Well, this was one part sad, two parts hilarious. Her backstory's simply heart-wrenching, as how she had pretty much given up on her bloodline. But luckily, Rex came in and saved he with the Power of Penis! :P
On the funny side, I find rather hilarious how she regards Rex, which certainly fits on how everything in his life turns up, heheh. Can't help but feel like she sees Rex in the same way as a sort of cute stray puppy, with silly eyes and a perma-boner that will wag his tail to whatever woman pets him before humping her leg, nyheheh.
The most surprising fact of this whole lore is her age; she's 10 years older than Rex!? Now that's a surprise...
